Senior Benefits Advisor,
North Staffordshire Warm Zone

1 part time 22.5 hours per week vacancy. £17-£20,000 pro rata, dependent on experience. Initially, 1 year fixed term from January 2009.

North Staffordshire Warm Zone is a public / private partnership committed to helping vulnerable communities, eradicating fuel poverty and maximising energy efficiency.

North Staffordshire Warm Zone is in the process of assessing more than 120,000 homes in the area and overseeing the installation of energy efficiency measures and the delivery of energy and benefits advice to as many of them as possible. This post has been funded by the local PCT and will target customers within the South Eastern Cluster GP practices. The benefit adviser will be required to work in health settings such as GP surgeries and also carry out home visits as required. S/he will carry out comprehensive benefit checks and give advice to patients on maximisation of income. The adviser will deliver the advice service to maximise take up of benefits by local people.

Ideally you will have an appropriate professional qualification in benefits services though others with a proven track record in such work, particularly someone who has fulfilled a similar role will also be considered. Two years welfare benefits advice experience is essential to this role.
