Newcastle Warm Zone – bringing affordable warmth and energy efficiency to Newcastle

Newcastle Warm Zone was set up to make homes across Newcastle affordably warm and energy efficient. Our aim is to bring real help to homes across the city and to make a real difference to the quality of life of thousands of households in Newcastle.

The Zone is working with Warm Zones Limited, Newcastle City Council, Your Homes Newcastle, ScottishPower and National Grid Transco Affordable Warmth to bring real benefits to householders who need help because they live in cold damp homes or find it hard to keep their home affordably warm.

What can Newcastle Warm Zone do for me?
If you live in a cold damp home, you can’t seem to keep your home warm or your gas and electricity bills are high then you probably need help. Newcastle Warm Zone has access to funding and grants for loft and cavity wall insulation, draughtproofing, heating systems, heating repairs and low energy lightbulbs. We can also give up-to-date and expert advice on energy efficiency and help you to find out if you are claiming the right benefits.

When will you be visiting me?
We are working in the city until March 2008 and plan to visit each and every home across Newcastle. We can’t visit everyone at once so we have put together a programme that we hope will bring help to those who need it most in the first two years. By working to a timetable and by using the systematic street-by-street Warm Zone approach, we can use our funding in the most cost-effective way for the benefit of all of the citizens of Newcastle.

However we do understand that a planned programme, although cost effective, does need to be flexible. So if you or someone you know is suffering, or is likely to suffer from cold-related ill health as a result of living in a cold damp home, or just can't get warm, get in touch and talk to us. We’ll always do the very best we can to help.

Newcastle Warm Zone works closely with a number of partners. Energy North East is just one of these. Their website is a valuable source of resources and information for anyone who is interested in how global energy concerns affect the North East of England.
