Newcastle Warm Zone – bringing affordable warmth and energy efficiency to Newcastle Newcastle Warm Zone was set up to make homes across Newcastle affordably warm and energy efficient. Our aim is to bring real help to homes across the city and to make a real difference to the quality of life of thousands of households in Newcastle. The Zone is working with Warm Zones CIC, Newcastle City Council, Your Homes Newcastle and Scottish Power to bring real benefits to householders who need help because they live in cold damp homes or find it hard to keep their home affordably warm or are just conscious about doing their bit for the environment. Newcastle Warm Zone has made a major contribution in boosting the local economy, delivering lasting home improvements, improving the health and wellbeing of residents and tackling climate change across the City! When will you be visiting me? To date the assessment team of Newcastle Warm Zone has visited every home across the City. The project was initially due to end on 31st March 2008. However, due to it having been such a social success for the City, the project has been extended to 2011. During these next 3 years a sweep up plan has been prepared to address the outstanding number of properties across the City. Warm Zone doorstep assessment teams will be visiting your home and you will also be receiving mailings regarding current offers. What can Newcastle Warm Zone do for me? If you live in a cold damp home, you can’t seem to keep your home warm, or your gas and electricity bills are high then you probably need help. Newcastle Warm Zone has access to funding and grants for loft and cavity wall insulation, heating systems, heating repairs, low energy light bulbs and in some instances draught proofing. By fully insulating your home Newcastle Warm Zone can save you hundreds of pounds per annum. The insulation is installed by professional local contractors and is guaranteed for 25 years (Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency CIGA guarantee). We can also give up-to-date and expert advice on energy efficiency and help you to find out if you are claiming the right benefits. Between April 2004 and January 2009, the benefits team have helped Newcastle residents secure over £6 million in new benefits. Newcastle Warm Zone is a not for profit partnership and registered as a community interest company. It will therefore be very difficult to get home insulation at a cheaper price and it may even be free. Can I apply for a free survey and quote online? Yes you can. It doesn’t matter whether you own or rent your property to take advantage of the deals on offer, just click here. What if I am a private landlord? If you are a private landlord your tenant could qualify you for getting free insulation installed into your property. If they fall into any of the criteria above then your property will be insulated for free. If they don’t and you have to pay, then there is a Landlords Energy Savings Allowance (LESA).
