A new opportunity

In his Pre Budget Report 2006 (p115), the Chancellor announced new money to fund new area based schemes to deliver advice and measures to households in need of help.

Defra is currently working up how best to achieve this outcome and Warm Zones Limited has already been involved in discussions with the Defra team.

No announcement has been made yet on the detail but you can see the latest Defra information by clicking here.

The opportunity has been highlighted by Peter Lehmann, Chair of The Fuel Poverty Advisory Group (FPAG) in a letter to all Local Authority Chief Executives and HECA Officers. You can read the text of the letter by clicking here.

The opportunities extend to:

  • tackling Fuel Poverty
  • improving Energy Efficiency
  • reducing carbon emissions
  • increasing social inclusion
  • improving health

Warm Zones Limited is committed to actively working with all Local Authorities, stakeholders and potential partners by providing practical advice and support. We believe that this will help maximise the opportunity by establishing new area based schemes as quickly as possible once Defra has determined how this ‘seed corn’ funding can be accessed.

We will be updating this page as more information becomes available so please check back to keep up to date.
