Warming homes in Sandwell

The Sandwell Warm Zone was originally intended to run for three years to March 2004, but such has been the success of the Zone - and the scale of the challenge that the team will be continuing to work on behalf of local residents. Around half of all Sandwell households find it hard to keep their homes affordably warm.

Since Sandwell Warm Zone started work, the team has been knocking on doors across the borough to see how homes can be improved and to help people get grants for better insulation or even new central heating. We have now visited over 80,000 households, over 12,000 of whom have benefited from one or more of the improvements we offer. Which means, in addition to general advice:

  • FREE or low-cost loft and cavity wall insulation, and hot-water tank jackets
  • FREE central heating for eligible households
  • FREE low energy lightbulbs
  • GRANTS to help people on certain benefits make their homes warmer
  • ADVICE on energy efficiency and a free benefits check
  • DISCOUNTS on new boilers, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation

If you would like more information about how the team can help you, please get in touch with us on 0121 569 5015 or write to: Sandwell Warm Zone, Council House, High Street, Smethwick, West Midlands B66 3NT.
