North Staffordshire Warm Zone, bringing affordable warmth and energy efficiency to privately owned and privately rented accommodation in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

North Staffordshire Warm Zone was set up to make homes across Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme affordably warm and energy efficient. Our aim is to bring real help to homes and to make a real difference to the quality of life of thousands of households.

The Zone is a dynamic two year partnership delivered on behalf of Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Scottish Power and National Grid Affordable Warmth to bring real benefits to householders who need help because they live in cold damp homes or find it hard to keep their home affordably warm.

North Staffordshire Warm Zone has access to funding and grants for loft and cavity wall insulation, draught proofing, heating systems, heating repairs, tank jackets and low energy light bulbs. We can also give up-to-date and expert advice on energy efficiency and help you to find out if you are claiming the right benefits.

Who will benefit from the North Staffordshire Warm Zone?
The North Staffordshire Warm Zone project will benefit private owner occupied and private rented households in certain parts of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Households who are found to be in fuel poverty could receive:

  • FREE insulation measures

Households who are in receipt of certain ‘passport’ benefits could receive:

  • FREE insulation measures
  • FREE central heating measures

Households who do not qualify for the full grant, do however qualify for our heavily subsidised scheme on insulation measures, and a typical household could save up to 60%.

All households will be able to access:

  • FREE benefits advice
  • FREE energy advice
  • FREE energy saving light bulbs
  • FREE Smoke Alarms

In summary, all privately owned or rented households in specific areas of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme will be able to benefit from the North Staffordshire Warm Zone project.

When will you be visiting me?
We are working in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme until December 2008 and plan to visit over 73,000 homes in that time. We can’t visit everyone at once so we have put together a programme that we hope will bring help to those who need it most in the next two years. By working to a timetable and by using the systematic street-by-street Warm Zone approach, we can use our funding in the most cost-effective way that will benefit the most in need of our help.

Our timetable is shown alongside so you can see when we plan to be in your area. However we do understand that a planned programme, although cost effective, does need to be flexible. So if you or someone you know is suffering, or is likely to suffer from cold-related ill health as a result of living in a cold damp home, or just can't get warm, get in touch and talk to us or download a self-assessment form and return it to us. We’ll always do the very best we can to help.
