EDF Energy (formerly London Electricity) continues to fund the Zone, which is great news for the enthusiastic multilingual team who work in the Zone.

The Newham Warm Zone has assessed over 66,000 homes, created 27 jobs for the local long-term unemployed, and put insulation and/or heating into 12,000 of the Borough's homes. The Newham Warm Zone has given out twice as many Warm Front grants as the average London Borough.

However, energy efficiency alone is not always enough to eliminate fuel poverty; the Warm Zone employs Newham Community Links to follow up households identified by the Warm Zone who could gain from a benefits review.

In addition, the Warm Zone has created the unique Warm Zone Grant, a fund of £500,000, which provides financial grants to those families who are fuel poor but are ineligible for existing Government aid.
