Warm Zones in the UK Devon South Tyneside North Tyneside Wrexham North Staffordshire Shard End Birmingham Northumberland Newcastle Gateshead Aberdeen Hull Sandwell East London

Newcastle Warm Zone, a four-year £27 million initiative to provide better heating and insulation for up to 50,000 homes in the city, was launched in 2004 by Nigel Griffiths MP the then Minister for Small Business at the Department of Trade and Industry.

Gateshead Warm Zone, a five year £23million project, completed its planning phase and launched in September 2005, whilst associated projects have been set up in specific areas of Stoke-on-Trent (Warm and Safe at Home).

More recently, a new single ward project has been set up in Shard End Birmingham due to complete in 2007 and a new Zone is due to launch in North Staffordshire in early 2007, serving homes in the wider Stoke on Trent area and in Newcastle under Lyme areas.

Newham Warm Zone has extended its original operation to six neighbouring London Boroughs (Barking and Dagenham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Waltham Forest, Havering and Redbridge) under the banner London Warm Zone, to help 800,000 homes in the capital save money and improve comfort levels.

Each of the Zones has a main energy company supporter, currently: ScottishPower British Gas, EDF Energy, National Grid Transco, and npower
